ThinkBikes: Yup, I bought a stunt display team

Holy cow. I own a mountain bike stunt display team. It just sank in.

Follow ThinkBikes

It’s official – justFDI Ltd now owns ThinkBikes. The process started a few weeks ago and there’s been a colossal amount of work involved so I haven’t found any time to reflect.

What do I think? We are stronger for it. There are now two professional services in our portfolio for the events industry.

None of this would be possible without my business partner @Spode who turned a hobby and a group of mates into a professional stunt display team as his side project over the last few years. I have absolutely no idea how he did it. I’m privileged to be in this position. Thank you Spode!

Last week we gave ThinkBikes a bit of a launch at Square Meal’s Venues & Events 2013 show. I can’t remember the last time I felt so tired. But WOW what a warm reception we got. ThinkBikes and ThinkWall exhibiting side by side. I know I’m biased but it did look amazing.

Everyone I’ve caught up with recently has asked about progress with ThinkWall, which is going great by the way, and then I’ve dropped the “oh did I tell you I just bought a mountain bike stunt display team?” question and I get a response that’s normally a bit like this:

ThinkBikes Conversation

I am so excited about this new service. It’s already a cool brand, I’m confident we can make it that much more grand. There’s a little voice in the back of my head though which sounds disturbingly like a former boss asking, “But where are the synergies?”

It’s simple. At ThinkWall we assist with social media activities at events. In fact we wrote a Practical Guide to Social Media Activities at Events (email me if you’d like a copy) which outlines work we’ve completed for clients such as Q&A sessions, live feedback, competitions, and delegate networking. We’d like our own brand as a case study, to have something tangible, some actual stats and hard facts on the benefits of social media. Enter ThinkBikes.

I’m immensely proud of our re-branding exercise (still in progress at the time of writing) and I suggest that if you’ve read this far you watch out for awesome new photos and videos on our Facebook and YouTube.
